UPDATE ON THE FOOTBRIDGE

Following the delay of the footbridge from St Erth in November last year and with the winter behind us we are now in a position to start the renovation and preliminary construction work on the foundations.

Frome based contractors Advanced Mini Piling Systems will be starting work during this month to build the bridge foundations before we start our midweek services. This leaves all Spring and Summer to renovate both the steel and wooden components of the bridge before installing it during the Autumn.

In January we were able to store many of the wooden components and the roof cladding in a container, and work will shortly commence on restoring existing and also fabricating new dagger boards and other wooden components.  In addition a start will be made on needlegunning part of the stairs and main span. To this end a small team of volunteers will focus on the renovation in readiness for the bridge lift in the Autumn.
