The East Somerset Railway could not run without the support of our members and the brilliant work of our amazing volunteers. New members are always welcomed!
We have a growing membership who all have one thing in common – a desire to preserve our heritage railways and to ensure the future of the East Somerset Railway.
Membership prices are very reasonable, starting from just £15 for junior members, and each new member makes a fantastic difference to the East Somerset Railway. If you would like to help us to achieve our aims and objectives, there are three types of membership, Annual, Gold and Life. Please see below for more information about the differences.

Annual Membership
Members who subscribe by Annual Membership receive the following benefits:
- Discounted travel. Members get 15% off most tickets for themselves and anyone they book for.
- A yearly journal which is full of information about the Railway, our current and future plans, reports from the various departments and many photographs. This quality, full colour illustrated journal, spans approximately 30 pages.
- An invitation to the annual AGM where you have the opportunity to contribute to planning the Railway’s future and keeping our heritage alive and you have the all important right to vote on all resolutions put to the meeting.
- The chance to help run YOUR railway! There are many opportunities to be trained in a variety of activities connected with the operation of the line, from Ticket Inspector to Engine Driver, helping out in the Ticket Office and Shop, track and site maintenance. Gold Membership
In addition to all of the membership benefits listed above for an Annual Membership, the Gold Membership:
- Lasts for five years
- Offers a saving of around 12% over the Annual Membership.
Life Membership
Become a Life Member with a one off payment - no need to worry about renewing. The cost equates to approximately 28 years of annual membership, so can work out as a much cheaper option.
