Come and visit our new permanent exhibition devoted to the art and work of our founder, David Shepherd. The exhibition is sited in a restored carriage on the cattle dock and is open during running days. It features the ESR's collection of framed David Shepherd prints - all donated by the public over the years - and shows the wide range of his subject matter - way beyond elephants and steam trains!

There are also information boards featuring little known facts as well as some memorabilia donated by his family. You can sit in a comfy chair and enjoy listening to him tell his story - or browse through some of his books.

The exhibition was officially opened on Thursday August 15th, and was combined with the launch of David's son-in-law, Jeremy Hobson's new biography, 'The Artist and his Railways'.

Limited editions and signed prints by David Shepherd are available in our Shop.

Part of the exhibition (shown in photo above) is accessible for wheelchair users. There is a ramp leading to the exhibition entrance.

THE EXHIBITION IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE WINTER PERIOD AND RE-OPENS 8TH MARCH 2025.
