Donations

Our charitable aim is: TO PRESERVE, OPERATE AND EXHIBIT FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT FOR EDUCATIONAL AND INSTRUCTIONAL PURPOSES AND TO STIMULATE AND ENCOURAGE INTEREST IN STEAM AND OTHER RAILWAY LOCOMOTIVES AND ROLLING STOCK MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT OF HISTORICAL INTEREST. 

If you would like to make a one off donation to the East Somerset Railway you can do this by simply placing cash in our donation boxes when you visit the station, by sending us a cheque, or by making a donation online.

Regular donations by Standing Order

Making a small, regular donation by Standing Order is an inexpensive way of helping the East Somerset Railway. If you would like to make a donation this way it can be easily arranged through your bank. Most banks have facilities to set up a Standing Order online.

Gift Aid

If you are able, please consider adding Gift Aid to your donation. As a chairty, Gift Aid allows The East Somerset Railway to claim an additional 25p per £1 of your donation. Please make sure you read Gift Aid guidelines before agreeing to do Gift Aid.

At The East Somerset Railway we have a large collection of second hand books which are available to buy through donation. This is an important stream of income for the railway and provides an inexpensive way for people to support us.

Donate your unwanted books

We accept a wide variety of books including general fiction. We enjoy accepting books which are related to trains and railways but this is not a must. 

Donations can be left at The Ticket Office at The East Somerset Railway.
