New Chairman announced for the East Somerset Railway

Derek Sharp has been appointed the new Chairman of the East Somerset Railway in Cranmore.

Derek takes over from Dick Masters who gave notice that he would be stepping down at the East Somerset Railway’s annual general meeting in November 2023. Dick has led the East Somerset Railway as Chairman for over 20 years. Under his leadership the organisation has grown from strength to strength and seen its offer expand with visitors coming from all over to enjoy steam and diesel train rides, dining experiences and the ever popular Santa Specials. Dick will remain on the board of trustees for the railway and continue to give his time towards its future success.

New Chairman, Derek Sharp has been on the board of trustees for the East Somerset Railway for the last 6 years and has been extremely involved in the running of the station shop, the infrastructure of the site and Cranmore Traincare and Maintenance Services. He is looking forward to working alongside the fantastic teams of volunteers whose drive, passion and skills keep the East Somerset Railway running.
