Freightliner Class 59

East Somerset Rail were thrilled to welcome Network Rail’s first train since 2019.

 

A Freightliner Class 59 locomotive was named Westbury PSB 1984-2024 at a ceremony on our main platform at 13:30.

 

Around 100 guests including senior figures from Network Rail and Freightliner attended a reception on our platform and museum. They then enjoyed a trip on the East Somerset Railway on our heritage Diesel Multiple Unit.
