Christmas is here!

This weekend kicked off our first weekend of Santa Specials here at The East Somerset Railway. During the month of November we did not have any trains running as repairs were being carried out on the line, so it was brilliant to see carriages once again being taken to Mendip Vale full of excited passengers.

Our Santa Specials are one of the highlights of the year. Each child and their family are welcomed at the platform and given an activity pack to complete as they make their way through the Somerset countryside on the magical Santa Special Train. Following the train ride, passengers make their way to platform 2 – The North Pole, where they are greeted by a wonderful selection of refreshments made and served by the team at The Station Café. Families then enjoy their snacks in our refreshment carriages until it is their turn to meet the big man himself – SANTA!

Not only are the Santa Specials a magical Christmas experience for our visitors but it provides vital income to support the work of The East Somerset Railway. As a charity, all tickets purchased whether for train rides or an experience such as our Santa Specials goes directly towards the practical work The East Somerset Railway does to protect Britain’s Railway Heritage.
