14th - 17th April 2017
A Happy Easter awaits you at the East Somerset Railway.
Children bring your teddy and travel for free (one child free per fare paying adult)
There will be a spot the egg competition for the children, Easter activity sheet and pick the bears name to win lots of Easter chocolate. The miniature railway will also be running, as well as Driver for a Tenner and visit the Engine shed to get up close to the sights and smells of glorious steam. Have a look around our small museum and shop and have a bite in the Whistlestop Cafe. You will see that not much has changed here at the East Somerset Railway since steam ruled the way. We still use coal, water, whistles and flags, no computers or apps in sight! The pace of life is very much slower than modern day, our guards make sure the doors are closed and then lets the driver know with his flag and whistle he can start the journey. Ride the train as many times as you wish to enjoy the sways and judders, stops and starts along the track.
Why not drive a locomotive with our Driver for a Tenner, a lovely diesel locomotive awaits you at the engine shed and yes you can drive her yourself! Please see the Driver for a Tenner page for more details.
